Returning to the Evidence

This collection is continuously expanded as new Black Logic Media books, documentaries, essays, and research projects are published.

History is often told through interpretation.

Primary sources allow us to encounter it directly.

The Primary Sources collection is dedicated to the original documents, speeches, letters, diaries, legal opinions, newspaper accounts, interviews, census records, legislative acts, and other firsthand materials that form the foundation of historical understanding.

Whenever possible, Black Logic Media encourages readers to begin with the original evidence before considering later interpretations. While historians, scholars, and commentators provide valuable context, there is no substitute for engaging directly with the voices of the people who lived the events themselves.

Each primary source in this collection is accompanied by historical background, explanatory notes, and related resources that help readers understand its significance without replacing the original document. Our goal is to provide context while allowing the evidence to speak for itself.

The collection includes materials spanning multiple periods of history and a wide range of subjects, including race, identity, law, politics, civil rights, philosophy, government, and social change. Together, these sources provide an opportunity to explore history with greater depth, nuance, and intellectual independence.

Understanding history begins not with opinions—

but with evidence.
